SW Machinery Hire Ltd will return to LAMMA 2025 following a successful debut in 2024. Providing long- and short-term machinery hire to the agricultural, plant, festival, and event sectors, the Wiltshire-based company has a fleet averaging under 18 months old. With rising hire demands, their customer base now base expands from Cornwall to Scotland.

Their hire fleet includes tractors, trailers, telehandlers, muckspreaders, tankers, hedgecutters, gators, excavators and more. At this year’s show, SW Hire will display their newest Side Discharge Muckspreader on the Richard Western stand (located opposite), allowing customers to view firsthand the machines of the fleet. Flexible hire options, seasonal solutions, and modern machinery access make them a trusted partner for farms and other customers.

Hiring machinery offers a flexible approach to maximizing cash flow, as it allows you to pay only when equipment is needed. For many of our customers during the grain harvest, farms hire tractors and trailers to manage the increased workload of the summer months. Whether this is additional machinery working with their own fleet, or on smaller farms who don’t have these machines & trailers. This strategy helps farmers reduce machinery costs during the less busy winter period.

Through spring to autumn, muckspreaders are in high demand. 2024’s challenging weather conditions prompted an increased investment in additional machines, explains Simon Williams (MD). Wet weather earlier in 2024 limited farmers' access to their fields, but SW Hire's flexible rental options offer a practical solution, allowing farmers to rent muckspreaders as needed.

One key advantage of hiring from SW Hire is access to modern machinery. With an average fleet age of under 18 months, the company offers some of the newest tractors on the market, enabling customers to try different models and benefit from increased efficiency. With a vast fleet of tractors ranging from 100-400hp and optional extras, such as GPS and front PTO, customers are able to select the best-suited tractor for their farm.

Alternatively, some customers prefer long-term hire arrangements, opting to use hired-in equipment as their primary machines. One of SW Hire’s long-standing customers hires an array of machines for their farm on a long-term contract. This includes three JCB 536-95 telehandlers and ten 14 – 16 tonne Richard Western trailers, with an additional three trailers during the busy season.

In addition to the long-term machinery, the farm hires in seasonal machinery to cope with the increased workload. This includes:

  • 2x JCB 542-70 telehandlers from September-November
  • 4x John Deere 6R155 for the harvest season
  • 15t Takeuchi excavator
  • McConnel PA6565T Hedgecutter in October
  • John Deere 8R 370 and 7R 350 hired in for seasonal work
  • JCB 4220 iCON Fastrac on a one-month contract
