Stephen Battell LimeX case study

We spread LimeX in blocks across the farm as a repair (to restore the soil pH). We’re going on at 12 t/Ha at the minute.

After next year, we will have been around the whole farm at that rate. We will then drop down to 8 t/Ha (to maintain the soil pH). We’ll probably be buying the same tonnage but just covering more area.

It’s a hassle-free product.

We have contractors spread LimeX for us. This is one of the benefits of having it. You can have it delivered, tipped up in a field, and spread. It’s one less job for us to do at a busy time of the year.

All our straw is chopped, so our K levels are pretty good. Having the phosphate (in LimeX) is handy to top that up. There are a lot of other nutrients in it as well; I don’t think you could buy them all in one fertiliser bag.
