Butress Formwork Traveller
The challenge of sea wall defence:
Our commissioning was to design, build and install hydraulic and electrical power and control systems for the “buttress formwork traveller” which is a system developed to cast an 800-meter-long mass concrete sea wall as a series of individual buttresses to protect the a new site location for a Nuclear Power Station. The wall was cast in a series of individual ‘buttresses’, and the concrete was poured between tides.
Our bespoke solution:
Our technical engineers designed and manufactured a hydraulic power unit comprising of: 7.5KW 3~ induction motor, gear pump, aluminium bell housing, 320 litre steel reservoir, eight section proportional load independent spool valve assembly and this was all fully tested. Electrical power and control panel and a customised software program was designed for the machine control and successful integration of a radio remote control system.
Performance with Pearsons:
Pearson Hydraulics achieved the aim to design a customised product and solution to make the system more efficient, reliable, compact, and cost effective. The client was delighted with the performance of the machine which has led to a repeat order. Tackling a communication protocol that we had no prior experience of and using cutting edge technology has enabled us to be innovative with our products whilst at the same time offering reliability and improved diagnostics.
